Why the Canon EOS Rebel T2i is Perfect for Beginner Photographers | Review

If you match any of the following, the Canon EOS Rebel T2i is perfect for you:

  • you are a beginner photographer in search of a new DSLR camera

  • you are on a budget

But,

  • you also don't want a low quality camera

So if you fit those criteria, I'm going to explain why you need to get your hands on the T2i ( (aka the EOS 550d in the UK).

First off, the T2i has a great resolution of 18 megapixels which is a lot if you are a beginner. Remember, at this stage in your career, you only need something more than a smartphone where you can control the ISO, Aperture and Shuter speed, all of which this camera can do. It also has 1080p video for those vloggers out there and I have done a few videos on my youtube channel with it and it offers great results.

It also has many cool features such as a 1 million pixel display for viewing your shots in vivid colors, several accurate automatic modes and pictures styles allowing you to gain more control on the exposure and color right out of the camera.

My favorite feature in the Rebel T2i though, is for sure, the amazing auto focus. It delivers crisp and accurate focus all within milliseconds so that I never miss the shot. The only drawback to it is that the camera only has 9 AF points which is quite out of date for 2020 standards. For example the Canon M50 has 143 AF points, but it also would cost you somewhere between 300 and 500 dollars more.

Then talking about lens compatibility, the Canon Rebel T2i has a mount that works with EF and EF-S lenses. Most of the time, you'll get the camera with an 18-55mm or 18-135mm EF-S stock lenses. I have the 18-135mm lens and it is great, with a high quality build and premium results.  The EF lens compatibility gives you the ability to slap on the famous Fifty-nifty lens, and if you are a street photographer like me,  you know how important the 50mm lens is.

Then for those with a tight budget, you can buy it used on Amazon or Ebay for cheaper than 250 dollars which is an amazing price considering everything it can do. Honestly, I think the price is too good to be true because I would probably still splash out 400 for the body alone. Just to give you perspective, for only 250 dollars, you're getting 18megapixels, sharp autofocus and the amazing Canon Color (it really is the best on the market). I hope you realize how great that combination is.

Overall, this is probably the best entry-level DSLR on the market for it's value. Even though this camera is very old, it's no slouch even with it's limitations.

If you are interested in buying the Canon Rebel T2i, I linked some sites that have amazing deals or prices with the 18-55mm stock lens at the bottom of this page.
